Dear Hope family,

Thought for the Week

Jesus – Always Present

Matthew 28v20 “And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This is a very comforting promise that many know off by heart. We need to know this.

It is in the same sentence right at the end of Matthew’s gospel as the command “make disciples” or more literally “disciple” people from all nations.

Jesus came to this earth and early in his ministry, called disciples to follow him and to learn from him. He taught and showed what it meant to be fully human under God. He encouraged his disciples to exercise what he had shown them as he sent them out on mission.

He does the same for us today. As we go out in His Name to share the gospel with those who have never heard, or to disciple new believers in the ways of Jesus, we may be uncertain what to do, we may face challenges and difficulties. But in all these, he has promised to be with us. He has all power and authority and is able to overcome the obstacles that we face.

So at the end of our little series looking at Jesus around Easter, Matthew wants us to have confidence to go out and disciple others. May God be with you as you do so.

With love and blessing,

Roland
