Dear Hope family,

Thought for the Week

Living in Peace

Psalm 23v2 He makes me lie down in green pastures”

Imagine a sheep lying down in a field of green grass. There is food in abundance around them, they have eaten their fill, they are in a safe place, they are satisfied and at peace, so they lie down.

This is all possible for us because “The Lord is my Shepherd”. In the hustle and bustle of life, we can pursue so much, but not be at peace. Peace is the thing that Jesus promised – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14v27.

I imagine we all enjoy being in peaceful situations, but this is a peace that transcends that. It is a peace that guards your heart in difficult situations. “The peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hears and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4v7) If only we knew where to find peace. If only we practised what we know.

Stay close to the Shepherd this summer, keep in his pastures, receive satisfaction from Him, remain in his peace, lie there still.

With love and blessing,

Roland
