2020 Vision! – Philippians 1v6
Philippians 1v6 “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
I always thought that 20/20 vision was perfect vision, until an optician declared my daughter to have better than 20/20 vision. In turned out that 20/20 vision merely meant that you can see at 20 feet what a normal sighted person can see at 20 feet. Maybe our expectations are just for what is “normal”; maybe we feel ourselves to have arrived when there is so much more to go for. As Christians, we don’t want to settle for what the world around us considers “good”, we want to align with God’s vision for us!
Who is God wanting you to be? What is he wanting you to do? By the mighty power of God’s Spirit working in you, he will achieve more than the normal 20/20 in you and through you. Excite yourself with God’s vision for you. He sees you as his child, holy and blameless, entering into a life that will never perish, spoil or fade. He sees you as his witness on this earth and as a loving brother and sister with his other children. If this is of God, then go for it with all your heart, all your mind, and with all your strength.
This applies to us as a church too. We are just completing 7 years of meeting as a church. Biblically that is a significant number and indicates “complete” (think for example “7 days of creation”). It is exciting to see what God has done in that time! Maybe it is a “completion of the beginning” and now the real business begins. What has God got in store for us? Are we ready?
May God richly bless both you individually and us together with:
- A fulfilment in his love
- An understanding in His Word
- A power from His Spirit
- A knowledge of the Father
- A light of His Presence
- A renewing by His Spirit
- A refreshment with His Living Water
- A faith in His faithfulness
- A hope in His promise
- A love for one another
- A servant-heart in Christ, and
- An abundance of fruit
