Dear Hope family,
Thought for the Week
The Certainty
Psalm 23v4 “I will fear no evil for you are with me.”
The presence of God is so precious and life-giving!
Last week we looked at the inevitability of death. It is also inevitable in this world that we will face evil because the Evil One is “the prince of this world”. The Devil has invaded God’s creation and is causing havoc across society.
However, we face both death and evil with the absolute assurance that our God and Shepherd is with us. With regards to evil powers, Paul writes, “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Christ is victorious, so there is nothing more precious or life-giving to the believer than His presence with us. The awareness of his presence overcomes our fears. Our victory in life and in death is based on His victory and His presence.
Moses said to the Israelites with regards to the importance of only acting with God present, “Do not go up, because the LORD is not with you. You will be defeated by your enemies.” Numbers 14v42
John wrote, “God is love … perfect love drives out fear.” 1 John 4v16-18
Paul said, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8v31
May you know the presence of God today. He will fight your battles and you do not need to fear. He will carry you home rejoicing.
With love and blessing,
Roland
