Refreshed

Psalm 23v2 “He leads me beside quiet waters”

Are you feeling tired and weary? Are you in need of refreshment?

Imagine a sheep in a hot climate. She needs water and so her good shepherd leads her to a source. When I was in Zambia, some people would take their animals several miles to water. But, our Good Shepherd leads us beside the quiet waters – beside. Not just a quick drink, but a constant availability if we will but drink. As one who belongs to Jesus, we do not need to go far to be refreshed: just turn to him and receive. In fact, Jesus later says, “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within them.” John 7v38.

The path in which God leads may be difficult, but it is also beside his refreshment, the streams of living water. In God’s grace, may we each drink and be refreshed.
