Paul’s message in these three chapters can be summarised “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good … to one there is given [one gift] … to another there is given [another gift] … follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.” (12v7-8 & 14v1).
Two weeks ago we considered the background to spiritual gifts – where they come from, why God gives them and what we are to do with them. If you were not able to be there, the talk is on our website in the “learning zone”. This coming Sunday we will be looking in more detail at the gifts listed in the New Testament. Our desire in this mini-series is to see us as a whole church develop in the use of spiritual gifts – and you are a part of that. This is a tremendous opportunity for each of us and may the Lord richly bless his church here. On Monday 20th May, we are holding a spiritual gifts workshop: this will begin at the earlier time of 7pm to allow more time prior to an anticipated finish of 9pm.
Paul tells us above to “eagerly desire”. May we therefore come together with anticipation.
With much blessing,
Roland
